Daly House Museum, Victorian Garden
122 18th Street, Brandon, MB
Built in 1882 Daly House is the original house of Brandon’s first Mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly 11. The underlying theme of a Victorian Garden is man’s conquest over the elements – exemplified by the lawn. Victorian forbearers sought to create the perfect lawn and then to turn their lawns into outdoor parlours. The Garden includes plants such as prairie grasses, Manitoba developed roses, lavender and native plants which are drought tolerant. This will provide an urban ecology for various bird, butterfly and insect species that summer in the Brandon area.
